About Francis Parker School:
Founded in 1912, Francis Parker School is a nationally-recognized independent/private day school. For 105 years, the School has offered a balanced, challenging and integrated educational program in academics, the performing and visual arts, and athletics. For the past 57 years, Parker has offered a comprehensive Summer Program that attracts both local and international students.

As California’s 2nd largest city (only behind Los Angeles), San Diego is acknowledged widely as offering a relaxed pace of life enjoyed by a family-friendly population. San Diego residents are accommodating to, and eager to help international students who wish to make the most of an American educational experience, regardless of length. Experience a city that offers cultural diversity, endless golden beaches, famous museums, and a variety of recreational activities.
The Enrichment/Language Immersion Program at Parker is designed for international students ages 11-15, seeking to improve their English proficiency and immerse in an American cultural experience. Students live with host families, enjoy stimulating and fun activities while in San Diego, and immerse themselves in in academic and enrichment classes with American students. The Parker Summer Program provides an American learning experience in traditional classroom settings while enjoying all the other treasures San Diego can only offer.
• Program Dates: July 8 – July 29, 2017 (3 weeks)
• Homestay Experience:Immerse in the American lifestyle as with an approved, English-speaking host family.
• Academic Program: Two (2) morning classes with Parker students, Monday-Friday
Afternoon extracurricular and leadership-building activities
• Application process opens: Mid-February 2017
• Application deadline: May 12, 2017
• Students: 20 students, ages 11-15 entering grades 6,7,8,9 (other grades by permission of Francis Parker)
• Requirement: Min. TOEFL score of 50, or interview required
• Highly-qualified, experienced, Francis Parker School teachers
• Dynamic courses from which students may select (nearly 20 courses from science to fine arts)

• San Diego leaders in the field of education, health, government, and technology are weekly guest speakers
• Afternoon activities: Parker’s “Lancer Camp” provides a number of activities, including:
– A day at a pool with approved lifeguards
– IMAX/Science Center
– Bowling
– Coronado Beach Day
– Ultra-Zone (laser tag)
– Urban Jungle (indoor amusement park)
– Solid Rock Gym for beginning climbers
– Belmont Park Amusement Park
– Skateworld
– Aquatica
– BBQ celebration at a local beach
Program Cost:
