Read Every Day
Read at least 30 minutes every day in addition to studying and doing homework. This habit will pay off when taking tests with timed reading sections, like SAT and ACT tests.

Take Leadership Roles
Find something you really like doing, and then dive into it. What college admissions is looking for is quality, meaning a high level of commitment in your extracurricular activities. The best way to show commitment is through leadership.

Ask for Help
If a student has a problem that’s getting in the way of schoolwork, ask someone you trust and respect for advice or help. If you’re having trouble with a class, talk with a teacher, counselor, or IEM about what type of tutoring or other assistance is available.

Take Challenging Courses
Colleges look at your grades, but they also pay attention to how tough your courses are. If you take college-level courses, such as Advanced Placement classes, you may be able to get college credit.

Prepare for the SAT or ACT Test
Get on track for the tests while you’re in 10th grade. Get used to taking long tests. Taking the PSAT is a great way to practice for the SAT and ACT.

Strengthen Time Management Skills
Balancing the academic and social demands of college can be a challenge for even the most diligent student. Embrace time management tools, there are planners or different digital tools designed for students.

Preparation is key to success in high school and college. By following simple steps through out your academic career you can achieve your goals. Let IEM help guide and support you to succeed.
